Welcome

A word of welcome from one of our ministers, The Revd Ian Green

Welcome to the website of Amersham Free Church.

Our church is located in Amersham on the Hill on Woodside Road.  We are a united Baptist/United Reformed Church congregation. I'm a Baptist minister, and my colleague, The Revd Erna Stevenson, comes from the United Reformed Church tradition.

We hold our Sunday morning service at 10.30am and on the first and third Sundays that includes Holy Communion.  We are quite 'liturgical' in our worship style and really enjoy singing both old and contemporay hymns.  The sermon forms an important part of our time together and the texts are usually taken from the Revised Common Lectionary.  Often our intercessions are led by members of the congregation.

We seek to be 'outward looking' and express that, partly, by our monthly Mission Offering which supports a variety of charities both at home and overseas.

We enjoy working with other Christians and are a member of COTHA (Churches Together on the Hill, Amersham).

During the week we often hold a variety of social gatherings.  Tuesdays are busy with LunchBreak, which is a community lunch followed by a concert, talk or short service in the Sanctuary, and then Tea at Three.  We have a Parent and Toddler Group called 'Fun at One', and six Life and Faith Groups which consist of study groups, a prayer group, a handicraft group and a book discussion group.

You'll find all of these activities on the website.

Our prayer is that Sunday by Sunday we gather as 'Seekers after Truth', worshipping God together and then going out into a new week to serve God both individually and corprately.  A motto for our church is that we long to be a 'Community for the Community'.

I hope you enjoy browsing the website and I look forward, perhaps, to meeting you in person at the church door one Sunday - you'd be very welcome!

The Revd Ian Green
